MY STORY

Destiny Blue is a Visual Artist whose paintings are based on promoting healing practices and highlighting the beauty of African American people. She specializes in acrylic on canvas and mixed media.  Destiny draws inspiration from a myriad of traditions, philosophies, and personal experiences that have shaped her understanding of life and her spirituality. These sources of wisdom have informed her creative process and infused her artwork with a sense of purpose and meaning. For Destiny, painting is a spiritual and healing practice. She is both an artist and a clinical social worker providing psychotherapy to children and adolescents. 

 

Destiny earned her Master of Social Work degree from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke in 2022. Additionally, while studying as an undergraduate (2021), she minored in Studio Art. Destiny has participated in multiple group exhibitions in Charlotte, NC, including with The Gallery at Morning Star, The VAPA center, and QC Family Tree. She is a proud 2024 recipient of the Art Science Council Creative Mecklenburg Grant.

​Destiny is currently striving to be more consistent with marketing her work and establishing a creative business.  Within the next 5 years, Destiny intends to open a gallery space that serves as a shared place for creation, collective and community care, workshops, and other art-related events. Destiny strives to make connections and support others on their life journeys through art.
